Extended Practice Brief #4: [Nanyang Day 6] *Final Outcome

This is the final outcome of the brochure after further developing and testing.

Alterations to the previous design was made in order to create this final:

  • Back page in a darker shade of coral with the orange text changed to blue so that it'll be read clearer. It also becomes a nice addition of contrast to the colour palette and aesthetic of the brochure. A nice contrast between the front and back cover
I think overall this was a good design outcome despite the fact that we only had a week to do it, on top of other briefs that we all are working on respectively. I think that it works effectively to the issue that we are answering to and also within the brief that we are doing. It fits the inviting character than we wanted but also something that would make the audience feel willing to read about. I think the colours do well in also representing the content and concept that we have (Underwater tour agency). Not only does blue and coral work well as literal indications of the location, but it's also warm and neutral which encourages all audiences to read and participate in the idea.

Furthermore, I think the content also makes the design more effective in encouraging audiences as it has a very familiar tone to and rhythm to it, as it's inspired by stories and myths that everyone has read since they were young, and adding the satiric and almost morbid tone to at the end, adds a more interesting and fresh flavour to the content written. Also, this way audiences reading it may actually remember whats written more as it interested them more than the usual climate change advertisement or propaganda. Finally, beside by working well on its own, it also works cohesively with the other collateral than we have in the team which strengthens the branding strategy and image of the tour agency that we made.

However, if there was more time to refine and change more to this I want to:

  • Put the price of the tour on the brochure, showing that we thought more of the actualisation of the tour itself and how it will can work in the real world in relation to the target audience that we  choose (families, history enthusiasts). due to time restrains we couldn't print the brochure again with the price as it was time to do the presentations.
  • Explore a more experimental and contemporary brochure design. I didn't really push this to the team as much as I could've but if i was to do this again I want to do something more innovative or in concept with the idea e.g. like a map, a text pack.
  • Choose a better paper stock more appropriate to the time (2100) and idea we have (although choosing a sustainable stock is a start) I thought I could push it further, but again due to time constrains I had no time to buy or text on other stocks e.g waterproof paper.
