Extended Practice Brief #5: Initial Packaging Designs [Ruban X Graphic Design]

*scan notebook sketches

I sketched some packaging ideas as inspired from the Pinterest board that we've done together and how we can utilise tracing in order to use it as packaging.

Ideas:
  • Individual packaging for each postcard?
  • Standard 'letter envelope' (3)
  • Make it curved? more organic and softer (1)
  • Mixture of card and tracing paper - double packaging
  • Overall packaging giving it the 'travel pack' aesthetic - everything packed together in one parcel (4)

Out of all the designs I prefer the 'package' layout the best as I think its the most effective and practical out of all of them, it keep all of them in one place without having to be unpackage each postcard one by one if they're individually enveloped.  I thought it'd be also put a title on it as I've asked Ruban for a manifesto or title of the overall concept so I can use it as the basis for the type design which was 'Manufactured Structure'.

Thoughts & Reflection:

I've sent Ruban pictures and scans of the packaging and asked for her opinion on which one she prefers and she preferred the 'package' design the best which was great as I can start to physically develop it now so I can show her how it will turn out in person and how the collateral will be packaged together.
