COP: 2nd Tutorial w/ Amber & group

IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER:

WEEK STARTING 2ND DECEMBER (FINAL PRACTICAL CRIT)

  • Make sure practical is nearly ready
  • Last feedback and alterations and refinements

MAKE SURE TO HAVE:

  • Strong visual examples for Case Studies in the essay - as they will help strengthen my arguments (reference to appropriation, stereotypes etc.)

NEXT STEPS:

  • WRITING THE PRACTICAL BRIEF (*Idea stemming from the 3 strategies to Counter Stereotyping)
  • AUDIENCE - Who am I trying to connect to?
        • Who is it for? -
  • PURPOSE -  Informing? Influencing?
        • Look for the VALUE in the essay & the conclusion that I got from it?
  • STATEMENT -  summary of how the essay and practical interrelate and how they refer with each other. *Maybe write the statement first and pinpoint what I'm trying to convey from the practical in order for me to finalise what I'm intending to produce.

Thoughts & Reflection:

Though it was a really quick meeting, I felt that I am on the right track with my essay, although I did feel like I may be lagging behind because I haven't got a refined practical brief yet and therefore I couldn't exactly start my essay either. But, Amber has told me to write my practical now and maybe start it by writing the statement first just so I'm in the right head space when actually writing the brief itself and I won't counteract myself when doing both things at once. I still do have some more reading to do especially on Belonging and Globalisation which will be one of the points in my essay as well but hopefully my aim by the ed of this week is to finalise:
  • Essay Structure (points, case studies, arguments)
  • Practical Brief
  • Reading
so I can finally start on my essay and my practical.
