Extended Practice Brief #7: Irrational Fears [Chosen Ideas]

The Overall Idea

With all the research that I've gathered, I think it would be the most effective to make a research publication, documenting the important findings that I've got. Also, while researching I altho began to think about the 'irrational fear' of face masks and how they have become an item/ catalyst of micro-aggressions towards Asians – INDIVIDUALISM VS. COLLECTIVISM.

With the research the I've gathered I think they ultimately went back to the deep rooted cultures of the east (collective) and west (individualistic), as well as the views shaped by society and media that gave people their fear of masks and associating it with Asians which manifested in racial discrimination.

It would be best to arrange my research in an order where this idea can be explored and concluded coherently throughout in order for the audience to understanding the views and opinions within it, therefore they could be split into 'chapters'. Writing the informative will also be in third person, also they will evidently have my views on it as I write it therefore it would be best to acknowledge it in at the start. Again, it is a very sensitive topic to approach, therefore I will be as neutral as possible.

Audience

Primary audiences for the publication will be people that are of Asian descent and people that are or know someone that is affective by the results of mask-ophobia. Secondary audiences will be people interested in the sociological impacts of COVID-19 towards minorities/ BAME.
