Extended Practice: Live Brief [Development]

Developing from the chosen initial idea that I chosen, me and my friend learnt the original choreography as well as added our own twist to it and filmed the process and lots of videos to pick from. Unlike the original video we decided to film full body shots to highlight the moves better; though we also took several attempts to film in form different angles. There were some little details which I wished was fixed though that we didn't really pay attention to as much as we should've such as:
  • Having a consistent 'centre' – in several shots the dance was good however it didn't make the cut as one of us would either be cut from the shot or is too far back/forward.
  • Inconsistent angles – for the first part of the videos we filmed from a different angle which wasn't flattering therefore they were discarded as well.
  • Was choosing a shot layout (portrait) too constricting?  – I did thought, maybe if we also filmed landscape as well that we could've had more options to choose from, however a the same time it would be too bare and empty on the screen since theres only two of us and wouldn't highlight the dance as much.
We also ended up taking nearly 60 videos, however considering how we executed and how we filmed the videos we only ended up liking a few of them which I've selected that could potentially be in the video. After, choosing the selected few videos I edited them on Premier Pro as it gave me features which helped me edit the clips faster and I know I could select different qualities and types with. It's also an opportunity for me to better my skills on Premier Pro and use it more comfortably than before.

Thoughts & Reflections:

It took me longer than I expected to choose videos to edit as we didn't really considering certain limitations and effects our filming setup had which was a shame because we could've taken them better. Although, on the plus side I think it unintentionally helped create  more raw and natural atmosphere to the video. I think overall, I can work with these clips thoguhand edit them in a way thats entertaining, cheerful and also relatable in a way.
