After my initial email to Adeline, she also sent me her pictures for the publication so that I can start gathering ideas and drafting it for her and get started with the brief.
As we haven't actually had a proper meeting yet as she is quite busy with her exams, I decided to start on the designs by myself. Although, form a small talk we had, she mentioned that she's not confident with her 'Graphic Design' skills she preferred if I take the led in creating the design for the brief, however she did say that she'd like to see it as more of a photographic publication with minimal text.
So far I've drafted a very simple and rough layout plan for the publication. These are main points that I started while drafting the publication:
- very simplistic but quite contemporary title page design, however I feel like it may not be reflecting her style as much because we haven't properly talked about it yet. BUT so far, I wanted her to get a gist of how I work and what kind of design I tend to work with so in return she also gets a sense of my practice.
- Drafted a possible 'text heavy' page that she can think about as another alternative to the simple photographic publication, BUT it might look a bit too magaziney?????
- Considered how the photographs may flow in the publication, the relation of image size, layout etc. with the audience
- Start a 'narrative' with the images
Thoughts & Reflection:
I emailed Adeline the draft and told her the gist of what I've started so she gets on track of my side of the collab. I didn't want to sound too 'pushy' to start the collab but just made her understand that I've started it (around my own timetable) but doesn't mean that she needs to feel pressured to be on it too, because she is extremely busy.
