ARTIFACT - 2016, VOLUME III, ISSUE 4, PAGES 11.1-11.10 Graphic Design for the Real World? Katrin Bichler & Sofie Beier
The article clearly identifies the different arguments that are made in relation to graphic design and design activism. It outlines the topic and uses references from books and designers who are for and against the topic in order to create and show the different opposing arguments. Particularly, it helped me understand the difference between design which try to be socially conscious as well as the fact that as graphic designers we have the ability to create visual communications and aesthetic which may affect or persuade the audience to take a specific stance, however we do not always get to create the actual content, which is what the audience is taking in overall. In addition, it also highlights the use of graphic design and design activism as a method of interaction or interactive design for the audience. Rather than persuasion, it helps the audience create their own meanings and interpretations which in turn by co creating the content and meaning the audience will more likely believe the information they have been given. Using it as a means for information is also a great way in communicating messages in order to influence the audience and its users. Overall, the article helped me understand the ways in which references and examples could be used in order to create clear arguments and statements about the topic and how different theories are drawn out from research as well.
CoDesign, VOLUME 1, NO. 1, MARCH 2005, 5-18 Co-experience: user experience as interaction Katja Battarbee & Ilpo Koskinen Taylor & Francis Group, University or Art and Design Helsinki, School of Design, Industrial Design, Hämeentie 135 C, 00560 Helsinki, Finland
Overall, the article itself is very much focused on the research and data analysis in order to highlight and prove the three approaches to co-experience. The data and analysis showed also supported the approaches and theories that are argued and written on the article, which in turn resulted in well formed statements and arguments with clear evidence to them; I think this is what also made this article very well written is how they've utilised the primary research they've conducted.
THE DESIGN JOURNAL AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL FOR ALL ASPECTS OF DESIGN, The Future of Print Design relies on interaction, Marco Neves, 2017, Informa UK Limited, Taylor & Francis Group
I think this article was very good at talking in detail about printed matter and printed design- going in depth with the various printed objects as well as establishing threi uses, composition etc. has help set the main objective of the article, which is user interaction with print design and it's future. It's also notable that the inclusion of digital design and media in the article is important as it shows that the 'future' or the evolution of design is now heavily reliant on digital media and how it also has massive effect on printed design and user interaction as mostly everyone nowadays use some sort of digital technology in their daily lives, also highlighting the main objective of the article. The use of the graphic design project as part of research or solution to the article could've been tested on actual participants in order to compare and contrast with their own findings on user participant, rather than concluding what it's uses are and how the user will use it. I think it would've been more effective as it could include unexpected results which may add to their arguments in the article and have a more in depth and critical approach to the project itself.

THE DESIGN JOURNAL AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNA FOR ALL ASPECTS OF DESIGN, Who''s in charge? End-users challenge graphic designer's intuition through visual verbal co-design, Simon Taffe, 2017
I think this article was a very good example of using and utilising primary research in order to explain the content and context of the question being presented. I think it was also ver effective as it gave concrete evidence of the theoretical approaches that he has selected as well as support the statements and references that he has put in the article. In addition, the use of the research also referenced back to his discussion at the end, which made his arguments even stronger and clearer as well as his references to other articles and citings. He's made great triangulation with his quotes, arguments and examples which answers the question fully and makes the readers understand the point of the article itself.
