Extended Practice Brief #2: YCN UK Greetings [Design Development]

  • Starting a new idea  - Im still going with the friendship idea though, changing the theme to Farewell/goodbye greetings, with the aim of making goodbye more fun and exciting than sad which will be aimed at young adults primarily.
  • I opted to start on the greeting cards first out of all the collateral in order to establish a structure and layout for the designs which I can easily implement on the rest of the collateral.

  • Diverting from the millennial target audience age group, this collection aims to target younger audiences, through the use of a bright and fresher colour palette.
  • It also uses lots of pattern illustration, highlighting the idea of goodbye and farewells.
  • Using the phrase ‘See You Next Time!’ and “Ill Miss you Dearly, Have a safe trip sweetie!, also emphasises the joy and excitement of anticipation to see someone again rather than the sad goodbyes.
  • The blue and red palette reflects a vibrant and inviting atmosphere along with the illustrations, effectively sets the tone of cards.
  • The illustrations also emphasise the thought of leaving through usage of clouds, airplanes and hands. They present the idea of leaving along with the phrases. Moreover, the use of hand written type makes the card look much more inviting and friendly. It also compliments the drawings and illustrations on the background, not only that, but it also aims the target audiences effectively by use hand written type that suggests fun.
Thoughts & Reflection:
having solidified the basis on the collateral I am going to refine them further and apply it to the rest of the collateral next in order to see how they look as a whole.
